more power to the pedal!

This August 4th, it’s Cycle to Work Day 2022, the UK’s biggest cycling commuting event. Cycle to Work is part of Cyclescheme Ltd. whose founders were inspired by a combination of their own passion for cycling and the government’s goal in 1999 to reduce CO₂ emissions, congestion and improve public health and wellbeing. Since the company was established in 2005 in Bath, they have supplied 835,000 bikes and accessory packages to riders and collaborated with over 2,000 bike retailers and brands.

This year, Cycle to Work are celebrating their 10 year birthday and so are encouraging commuters more than ever to travel to work via bike. Not only does cycling to work help you to stay fit, reduce your stress levels, and save you a lot of money, but also it makes a massive difference to your carbon footprint. Cycle to Work has a free online community called Love to Ride for commuters to share their experiences including your personal goals and reasons for riding. This year if you join up and log into the Love to Ride community, you have the chance to win a variety of exciting prizes from kit to a bike of your choice worth up to £1,500!

We actively support the Cycle to Work Day scheme and have ourselves seen the importance of reducing our carbon footprint. For instance, we have made electrical waste collections completely carbon-neutral through our collaboration with Co-Delivery, Exeter’s local E-cargo bike delivery firm.

So this Thursday, we challenge you to try and reduce your carbon dioxide emissions and cycle to work. Make sure to spread the word and tag us in any social media posts or stories you make @binituk.
